Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest" (Matt 11).

How? What does this look like?

"Coming to Jesus" requires us to step away from the normal rhythms of life to a place of solitude and quiet for deeper communion and listening.

Still Waters Retreats are  based on this call of Jesus in Matthew 11 and the reality of Psalm 23, where we learn that our Shepherd leads us beside still waters and restores our souls.  The Retreats follow the example of Jesus, who pulled away from even His closest friends to find solitude with the Father.

In our world of constant connection, FOMO, and unceasing motion, it is critical for the well-being of our souls that we connect with God in an "other" way and place where we have space and time to be still and know that He is God - not our watches or socials or calendar or ... or ... or.

"I enjoyed the opportunity to experience God's presence through the retreat. I've been grieving some losses and disappointments and wanted to discern God's guidance on our next steps or direction. I've experienced many retreats and guided prayers; this was one of my favorites. The location was amazing and perfect for a wide range of physical abilities."
- Mike

Your soul may need attention if you ...

  • Are exhausted, and a day off (or even a vacation) doesn't help

  • Need to make a big decision and need God's guidance

  • Haven't heard God's voice in a while

  • Are wondering if "peace" and "abundant life" are pipe dreams

  • Carry pain or unforgiveness

  • Can't breathe when you think of all the things you expect yourself to do

  • Can't remember the last time you talked to God about your own soul rather than your ministry

  • Struggle to be still or quiet with God

No, a retreat won't fix these.  There is not a "fix" outside of ongoing time with God, alone and with others, focused on your soul instead of your ministry.    A Still Waters Retreat could be just what you need to start resetting your rhythms to incorporate more time for Jesus to work in you.

Still Waters Retreats

A Day at a General SWR

The one-day General events begin at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

We meet at a location full of natural beauty with lots of options for retreatants to find places of solitude - monasteries are some of our favorite places

Arrow_edited.png

We begin with some introductions, then coaching on what a personal retreat is and is for - and what to do during solitude time

We get a lay of the land, so we know where on the grounds to look for solitude, where the hiking trails are, etc.

Arrow_edited.png

Then, we settle in to listen together to the Holy Spirit in a passage of scripture

Next, we disburse for at least a couple of hours of solitude - and those who can fast lunch do so

Then we come back to reflect on our experience and learn from one another

We conclude with another scripture listening experience and some personal and group reflection, then prayer

Bring a paper Bible, paper journal, and a pen, and turn off your phone

Join us for a day of breathing, listening, and be-ing with God.

"Being a hermit at times, I didn't realize just how much I needed this time to get out of my "normal" and get outside to spend focus time with the Lord. He met me powerfully and I found my voice again, both in sharing and in writing, I heard His voice clearly and I found myself drawing pictures with His words. I also enjoyed the sharing, prayers and scripture reading with others.
I can't wait to join in one of these again!"      - Kathy
